Getting stuff done for small business
Communication
Worked in a team of three during Covid-19 to write a 5-day training programme in group facilitation. All meetings were held via Zoom requiring strong attention to documentation, meeting preparation and ability to negotiate different positions on course content and delivery. Used analytical skills to reach consensus with two very strong and well qualified content experts and trainers.
Leadership
Successfully pitched for a medium size project to deliver a conceptual plan for a themed exhibition hall in a private museum. Assembled a team of six (graphic designer, museum consultant, architect, lighting design, IT consultant) to put together a 100-page proposal and budget. Completed on time and on budget to the client’s satisfaction.
Problem-solving
Assisted a small charitable social services agency to achieve Ministry of Social Development Level 2 Social Sector Accreditation Standards, thus increasing its annual income from $60,000 to $600,000 per annum. Analysing the requirements of the accreditation standard and implementing systems and solutions in the quickest and most cost-effective manner. Working within a small consulting budget and making a pro bono contribution of time.
Critical thinking
Preparation of ongoing monthly reports for a social services agency and identifying financial and compliance threats to viability. Making proposals to resolve or mitigate risk. Use of Excel functions and pivot tables to create meaningful information from raw database data. Budget design to achiever strategic purposes.
Creativity
Design of photographic processes, selection of equipment and project management to document the pregnancy testing of cows on a rotary platform including image of the foetus. Delivery of a large-scale panoramic image showing the entire story including veterinary staff, dairy shed, cows on race, yards and the Hauraki Plains at sunrise.
